In 2017, BYRON Writers Festival launched its StoryBoard Bus, a traveling creative writing program bringing authors and illustrators into schools across the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Founder Jesse Blackadder said the bus is “a mobile creative writing hub that includes a pop-up classroom and library full of creative ideas and surprises to ignite the imagination of everyone who sees it”

Justine Wallace created a beautiful mural for the bus, which is loved by kids across regional NSW.

A free travelling creative writing workshop fostering the next generation of readers and writers in the Northern Rivers. StoryBoard brings acclaimed authors and illustrators directly to schools to work with students in all forms of creative writing.

In 2017 we reached over 7,000 students with our StoryBoard Bus, visiting schools as far as Tenterfield in the west, Kempsey in the south and Tweed Heads in the north.
